American Conquest - Salvo and Charging

There are many features in American Conquest that catch the eye of RTS fans, alike with others that enjoy playing games. However, the makers of American Conquest ensure that there will be more to catch the eye...and some of these features come directly from fans, as well as the minds of the developers.

One of these amazing and startling features is salvo - a discharge of gunfire at the exact,

“Salvo will be a needed strategy in American Conquest, as a player will be able to annihilate enemies...a fusillade that can strike the front lines.”

precise time.  This was used, historically, to kill mass numbers of enemy soldiers standing in the front lines of a formation. But will such a feature make its way into American Conquest?  The simple answer is yes!

GSC has ensured both realism and something to look forward to. Salvo will be a needed strategy in American Conquest, as a player will be able to annihilate enemies with a burst of gunfire, a fusillade that can strike the front lines and take out many soldiers.  This strategy will be necessary for victory of course, because without it a player will be facing situations of mass casualties.

Of course, salvo fire comes with a cost: units must be in a formation and certainly in the open.  Indians, for example, will have many advantages; they will be able to hide in forests and do clever ambushes against the explorers.  While the Indians are tactful in stealthy actions, the explorers will be in open formations that can be vulnerable to Indian attacks, and doing salvo against the Indians will probably be rather difficult, considering the mere chaos Indians can cause.

While the Indians can present confusion toward many nations, salvo fire against the Indians may be possible. Taking out large numbers of Indian warriors can be of great advantage, but at the same time Indians can also be rather tactful, as ambushes may not come from one direction; while explorers fire salvo toward the Indians, there can be a raiding party sneaking from behind, and certainly this can be costly.

“We think about implementing it like this: first you cancel attack by your troops, then take them closer to the enemy soldiers, while they are reloading, choose a suitable distance and then allow your shooters attack - a mighty volley will bring a heavy death toll to the enemy forces. These are plans, we'll see how it proves ‘in action.’”
Oleg V. Javorsky, Developer

All of these strategies will have their disadvantages and rewards, but for salvo, many RTS fans and those who have been a part of the AC Community, will be looking forward to salvo for its realism, the reaction that comes from it, and certainly the overall strategy.  As well as this, salvo will be very incredible to look at and use in battles; the mere number of units firing off can stun players, and of course opponents also.

Another important strategy will be charging. Will there be charging in the game?  Possibly, because GSC is taking into major consideration, and with such a feature also comes many advantages as well.  In great contrast to units walking in battle, charging will provide players

with boosted attack strengths. There will also be strategies involved with positioning and ambushes on the battlefield...

There is not a lot of aspects of charging to discuss because it is so early in development, but some possible implementations with charging are the following: Indians will be able to have battle cries causing morale of opposing forces to go down significantly, explorers will be able to first fire in salvo, then charge resulting in a majority of advantages...and many other features.

Although some of the details about these possible aspects in the game are not yet stable in the game, expect to see a majority of them in American Conquest. Many fans of the RTS genre are excited about American Conquest and its amazing features, including that of the deadly salvo fire, as well as charging.
